The Cypress Mandela Training Center is a community based organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people it serves by providing pre-apprentice construction and life skills training along with employment assistance.

1999
Recognized for excellence in workforce preparation from the National Association of Counties (NACO).
2000
Cypress Mandela Training program received the Civil Rights Partnership Award from the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration for outstanding efforts in bringing more minorities and women into the construction trades.
2004
Received the Comprehensive Apprenticeship Self-Sufficiency Entrepreneurship (CASE) award from the Federal Housing Authority for its unique partnership and training provided for the Contra Costa Housing Authority. This entailed training the residents of the projects in construction skills to enable them to refurbish the residential units.
2006
The Cypress Mandela Training Center was one of three nationwide programs to receive the Exemplary Public Interest Contribution (EPIC) Award from the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. This award was presented by the United States Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, in recognition of innovative workplace programs that increase equal employment opportunity in the workforce.
